I am a woman. We are mighty.

Every woman is shamed by today’s news. Every woman is denied humanity by today’s news.

Woman is synonymous to reproductive tool. Woman is not human. Woman is nothing.

The first time I was raped, I was not on any birth control. I escaped without a pregnancy. The second time I was raped, I was on birth control. I escaped without a pregnancy. What of those women who did not escape? Do we imprison them in a lifelong sentence of continuing the gene pool of a monster? What of his sentence? Freedom? Fuck that.

They say it is pro-life but what of the life of the woman? What of the life of the child? Should a child grow up knowing their sperm donor is a criminal who forced himself onto their mother without her consent while she was in a state of fear, abuse, violence, at gun point, knife point, bleeding, destroyed? Should a woman look at her child and hate them forever because they represent the worst nightmare of her life? When everything already triggers her, now her child should also be a lifelong trigger?

This abortion ban, overturn of Roe v Wade, destruction of women’s rights, is not constrained to the women of America. It signals to the world that women are insignificant, that women are not human, that women deserve nothing. We have gone through waves of feminism, yet we have regressed to historic misogynistic patriarchal times. The power of a woman is feared, which is why restrictions and bans are continually instituted to shackle us. A free woman, a woman who is equal, a woman who has rights, a woman who is seen as human is a mighty being. She can demolish misogyny, dismantle patriarchy, destroy supremacy. She can revive humanity by building bonds across peoples and generations, bolstering communities of all groups, and boosting equality throughout humanity.

I do not live in America. I have dreams of living there. I want to pursue opportunities and create a life there. After today’s news, I am even more determined to get there. To join the movements of women. To become one with the marginalised. To give my voice to those who need an extra voice to shout. To join in the fight against those that dehumanise us, that view us as meaningless, that use their institutions to fuck with our rights and deny us a right to exist with equality.

I am a victim. I am a fighter. I am a woman. I am a woman of colour. I am human.

My heart is broken for all women. My throat is coarse from screaming against the patriarchy. My eyes are swollen for the tears that I have shed for all victims – past, present, and future.

We are exhausted from the fight, but we will persevere. We are stronger together and we will win. We are a sisterhood. We are human.
